Biography: Crumpler was born a free African American female in the year 1831 and was and raised in Pennsylvania. Crumpler graduated from the New England Medical school and received her MD in 1964. In 1965 she began her work by working on freed slaves which proved helpful due to the thousands of people who had suffered pain. After returning to Boston she began to practice at home and teach women nutritional facts. Later she wrote a medical guide book which was groundbreaking.
