EDPB530 FINISHED ON DEC 10TH. HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!
I think one of the most important things a teacher can do is to reflect on their practice and build a strong Credo. To me the Credo is not just a statement, it is a set of guiding principles which I have found to be effective in my practice. The Credo is a dynamic frame of reference which shifts as your experience shifts, as you reflect on your practice, and as you develop into a master teacher along with your colleagues.
Becoming a master teacher is one of those goals that nobody truly achieves, because, as Yoda might say: “Mastery grows with you… fluid, like the force, always ahead, but sometimes behind… there is always more to learn.” Or as Forest Gump might say: “Mastery is as mastery does.” Sorry. I got a bit quote happy there.
My challenges for you have to do with finding your Credo and perhaps, creating your own Yesvi and Novi. Sshhh…. They don’t know they are a figment of my imagination. Having your own Yesvi and Novi is surprisingly powerful, and students have found it quite useful.
Use the SELF-DIRECTED REPEATING QUEST to claim this quest. Don't forget to use a timer so you can claim your focused time-on-task.
For this quest, you will want to slowly go through the presentation with accompanying videos and work on your own Credo.
When completed, you will want to submit your initial development of the credo, whether on your Website or in a Google doc...
This quest will take you 90 to 120 minutes (Estimate). You will want to use your timer so you can claim time on task.
This quest continues the process of establishing a Credo and teacher identity by providing some ideas around “how to reflect” on your teaching experiences and how to use that reflection to improve your practice.
This quest starts a process which you might choose to continue in Parts 2, 3, & 4 below, where you develop and use your own Yesvi and Novi.
INSTRUCTIONS:
This is a quest which does not require any action other than reading and viewing the material on this page

CLAIMING QUEST
Use the SELF-DIRECTED REPEATING QUEST to claim this quest. Make sure you claim the XP you have earned.
Make sure you have watched the two videos which comprise Quest 1
Create a Google Doc for your work, and
Share it with Avi (Make him an editor please)
Consider a scenario where:
An initiative was implemented on your staff that did not end up succeeding. Many initiatives look like they are succeeding at first, and then slowly decline or dissolve. You are looking at an initiative that was meant to be a long-term solution for something.
OR
You attempted to implement an initiative that ended up not succeeding.
OR
You can use the Bubble Bump scenario.
Think about how systems thinking might have improved the situation. Would the questions at the end of the last video have helped? Would a causal loop diagram help? Would the "Whys" help drill down to the root cause of the need?
Provide a picture (in words... not a visual picture) of what the scenario might have looked like had systems thinking been utilized. Although you will need to be descriptive around what would be done and the possible consequences, this is not meant to be a quest taking more than 60 - 70 minutes in total. If you find that you have taken a lot more time on this quest, simply request more XP when you submit in Classroom
CLAIMING QUEST
Use the YESVI | NOVI | AVI Repeating Quest to claim this quest. Don't forget to include the time used perusing various sites in your XP claim.
