View how we will handle the Student-Led Seminar Organization in our 6th and 7th classes.
NOTE (Please Read This): Different this year is the plan to run student-led seminars in first AND second semesters, with more participants and fewer breakout rooms in the second semester. In this first semester, we will be running about 9-10 breakout rooms, which means that Avi will be spending less time in each breakout room. Avi will be popping in and out for general observations.
(2:53)
In Class 3, Avi showed you how you will be providing feedback to presenters using Forms and Doc Appender. We tested the system with you testing your feedback document.

THE TRACKER'S Tasks Tab becomes your friend and guide throughout the courses, with due dates, links to the quests, the order of events, and more.
(4:09)
The seminar tab is where you self-assess your presentation of the Student-Led Seminar in Semesters One and Two. This is completed before you submit for XP in Bytedeck.

The Classes Tab is where you self-assess class participation and find out how many XP to claim for the class in Bytedeck

This video shows you how to track Secret Lair and Social Learning XP. This video does not replace the information provided in the Secret Lair and Social Learning Quests.
PLEASE READ BEFORE WATCHING: This information is being provided to you a bit early, as the Social Learning and Secret Lair Quests are available later. It is sometimes difficult to decide on an "order of reveal" in a gamified learning environment. Like learning a new game, some information does not make sense until you get the rest of the instructions, then you nod to yourself and say something like: "Oh, so that's why... blah, blah". Just watch this video and relax... more will be revealed later.

Using VIU's Google Sites limits viewing of published sites to those who have a VIU WSFE account. This is how you make your site available for viewing by anybody on the internet.
(4:51)
This example from one of our students not only shows some ideas for what to include in a class site, but also how to conform to some of the design principles we use.
(4:01)
The ability to embed documents, drawings, calendars and other Google apps into your Google Site make for a very dynamic set of creative and organizational possibilities.
(4:30)
Placing your email or phone on a Website leaves you open to misuse of those personal access points. Create a Contact Me Form for your site and have it notify you when somebody has made contact.
(3:26)
Drive is a superb way to organize your files, but also, as you are placing files in the cloud, it is a good way to share files.
When you create a Google Doc or upload a file to Drive, it is private by default. This video shows you how to deal with that.
(8:17)
GWFE recently created a tool to help us communicate and collaborate. It is very user-friendly and, I think, you will find it very useful.
NOTE: Soon you will see "Spaces" instead of "Rooms" (shown in the video)
Q 1.5
(5:22)
Although not recommended, as it can cause confusion in your school and personal communications, this is a good way to at least see when you have received an GWFE email as a forward to your personal email.

The integration between GMail, Tasks, and Calendar can make staying organized a whole lot easier.
(2:50)
Some folks like Chrome and would like to use it for everything, while keeping things private and separate. Using Profiles is almost as separate as using different browsers.
