Silent 30 and Silent 30 Rewards
Transition times in classrooms can be challenging. To encourage smooth and efficient transitions in 3B, we do Silent 30s. I give students instructions for our transition, for example, "Please put your books away and get out your whiteboards. Give me a Silent 30." If the students complete the transition request quietly and within the time given, within reason, they earn a Silent 30 point. Once they earn 30 points, they earn 30 minutes of free time.
The students in 3B have been doing amazing with their Silent 30s and earned their first reward today! WOOHOO!
