Over the past 7 days we have:
been enjoying a variety of read alouds. Read alouds are a BIG part of the culture in 3B! We start every day with a read aloud.
completed a phonics check in to help determine where our whole class phonics instruction needs to start and where the gaps are for each student so I can help fill them during reading intervention time.
wrote in our journals for the first time.
went book shopping in our classroom library. This way, we have books in our desks to read during Read To Self time and during our free time.
wrote in our Flashback Friday duotangs for the first time. They will come home on Tuesday!
learned and practiced our clock climber letters in handwriting.
Over the past 7 days we have:
been working on our addition strategies. We have focused on Touch Math and our +9 strategies.
Here's a quick intro to Touch Math!
When adding 9 to a number, I taught the students a script:
"You know you're going to have 10 (so write down the 1 in the tens place). One less than __ (the other number) is __ (write it in the ones place)."
Over the past 7 days we have:
been exploring the three states of matter (solids, liquids and gases).
done our first experiment...ICE CREAM FLOATS!
Over the past 7 days we have:
been playing a variety of relay races to focus on teamwork, following directions and safety in the gym.
I have so many photos from the past 7 days to share with you. I have to wait until all of the Student Verification Forms are complete and FOIP forms are complete and verified.
