We had a Christmas holiday countdown for the last 10 days of school. A little gnome anmed Pippy visited us each day and brought a special treat or activity to do. The students were so excited to check the bag each morning for his message. He brought us 10 days of JOY - Christmas puppy puzzles, our own little Christmas tree to decorate, fun STEM activities, hot chocolate, Christmas freeze dancing, loads of Christmas read alouds, and even indoor snowball fights! What a JOYFUL 10 days it was! Through it all, we had lots of discussions about the importance of finding the JOY and spreading it around to our loved ones and friends during the Christmas season, and making sure we don't just focus on the "stuff" that we want and think we must have. It was a great ten days of classroom community and spirit.Â
SNOWBALL FIGHT!!! Volume UP!
BOARD GAMES GALORE!
We did a day of Christmas STEM activities, which included making the tallest tower for the gnome through cooperation and strategy, making a sturdy bell tower, creating 3D snowflakes, and designing a jingle bell maze. These activities hit many Science curriculum outcomes - the kids were learning without even knowing they were learning, which is always the best kind!
Jingle Bell Mazes! Sound UP!
We did lots of cool Christmas art projects. Here are a couple to enJOY!
The winter concert looked a little bit different this year but it still brought us all JOY to see them show off their musical talent!
