In this three part unit students:
Studets explore two websites to list criteria for legends, myths and folktales and examine their similarities and differences. They watch "The Blind Boy and the Loon" and compare their own culture to that found in the text.
Students read a variety of trickster folktales and discuss how main ideas help the reader form a theme statement.
Students exchange ideas and opinions to clarify understanding and extend personal interpretations and perspectives on what makes an effective folktale. 1.2.1
