Grade 8-12 students who move to Alberta from BC or Saskatchewan may have some gaps in their learning as a result of the sequencing of concepts in different provincial curricula. To help teachers in grades 8-12 to identify and remediate gaps in student prerequisite learning prior to beginning their course, BGSD has done a prerequisite learning gap analysis between Alberta Curriculum and the BC and Saskatchewan Curriculum.
Each of the documents below identifies which course and grade level of BC and Saskatchewan curricula includes instruction on BGSD Prerequisite Learnings. If the prerequisite learning is NOT addressed by the BC or Saskatchewan curriclum BEFORE the student enters the Alberta, or if the prerequisite learning is not mentioned at all in the curriculum, that cell is highlighted yellow. Teachers can use this information to identify potential gaps in students' understanding and develop a plan to remediate those gaps.
