On Friday, 3A had the opportunity to share a special song at our school assembly called “The Season of Giving.” The students sang beautifully and brought so much heart to their performance. Their voices and actions reflected the true spirit of the season, showing kindness, caring, and giving from the heart.
This week in Language Arts, we began a mini snowman unit based on Snowmen at Night by Caralyn Buehner. After listening to the story, students explored a variety of activities to strengthen their comprehension skills. They made predictions about what snowmen might do at night and identified the story events by sorting the beginning, middle, and end. Students also determined the main idea of the story and completed a vocabulary syllable sort to build word awareness. To finish the unit, they wrote a paragraph describing three things they imagine their own snowman would do after dark. It was a fun and engaging way for students to apply their comprehension skills!
After reading Owl Moon, students created beautiful owl silhouette art inspired by the story’s snowy night setting. They used colour, texture, and thoughtful placement to capture the quiet, magical mood of the forest. Each student added their own creative details, making every piece unique. The results were stunning and truly reflected the peaceful atmosphere of the book.
