Integrated Instruction & Language Supports
Integrated Instruction & Language Supports
What standards do I use to plan instruction?
Integrated teachers utilize the grade level content standards (math, science, social studies, electives) to drive instruction.
Instruction is supported by ELP standards and language supports.
Both ELP and content standards must be visible in the classroom along with evidence of identified scaffolds.
In collaboration with the ELD Academic Coaches, the Curriculum & Instruction Team has aligned the Arizona content level standards with the ELP standards. CUSD curriculum maps provide curriculum resources, pacing guides, and portrait of a learner alignment in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The alignments can be found within the various tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

Multilingual learners, at all levels of proficiency, should be provided with appropriate linguistic accommodations and supports in order to reach the next reasonable proficiency level. Teacher of multilingual learners utilize grade-appropriate instructional accommodations and supports to ensure content is accessible. The type of linguistic support will depend on the student's ability to complete the task independently, while continuing to uphold appropriate complexity for the student.
Below are a variety of resources to assist in identifying and applying appropriate supports within lesson plans and instruction:
