The term lesbian is also used to express sensual identity, or as an adjective to define or accomplice nouns with female homosexuality. Gender inequality is a major problem in our society. Discrimination starts against girls from birth. Male children are preferred as they are the future heir of the family. In elementary schools, the teachers’ pay more attention in maths and science on boys rather than girls. Girls are given more attention in language arts. In middle and high school, girls are discouraged to participate in sports, maths, etc. They are encouraged to take part in social programs, whereas boys are free to choose their own career. After childhood, young women are often encouraged, or even pressured, into pursuing an education in more stereotypical female-oriented professions, like teaching, nursing, care giving, retail, and office administration. Women are now earning more degrees than men at every level, and with higher grades and honors. But still there are less chances of women to get a Ph.D. in related fields. More women are starting businesses than men and the majority of degree-holders in most countries are now women. But, still, according to the Department of Labor 2007 statistics, women are mostly succeeding and dominating fields and industries that are often seen as “female”. Gender bias is a disease spread all over the country which must be stopped and cured immediately.
