The Human Resource Development Unit (HRDU) was established with the approval of the 525th meeting of the Council held on 25.02.2023.
The core functions of the HRDU include developing the Human Resource Development Plan, organizing learning and development programs, designing and implementing the Performance Management System, and supporting or carrying out a range of other HRM activities such as onboarding, offboarding, reward management, employee relations, change management, employee health and safety, and HR analytics.
EVENTS
The Awardees Circle of the Human Resource Development Unit, in collaboration with the Faculty of Dental Sciences (FDS) has organized a Dental Screening & Oral Hygiene Awareness Program. It was held on September 23rd, 2025, at the Gymnasium of the University of Peradeniya. The event aimed to educate participants on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and to provide free dental screenings to help identify early signs of dental issues.
The Awardees Circle 2024 of the Human Resource Development Unit has organised a four-day Skills Enhancement Programme for the Laboratory Attendants of the University of Peradeniya. This initiative aims to strengthen their knowledge, skills, and overall professionalism.
Inauguration Ceremony - 27th June 2025
The first off-boarding programme for non-academic staff scheduled to retire in 2026 was conducted on 15th May 2025 at the Staff Development Centre. The session provided comprehensive insights into pre-retirement, retirement, and post-retirement benefits, among others. Participants actively engaged in the programme, taking the opportunity to ask questions and address any concerns they had. Human Resource Development Unit (HRDU) of the University of Peradeniya (UoP) successfully conducted the Staff Excellence Awards Ceremony with the attendance of over 450 audience on February 18th, 2025 at the SCS Auditorium of the University.
The programme recognized the commitment and contribution of Non-academic Non-executive employees, and celebrated it glamorously with a talent show featuring the UoP staff. Employees relished the signature event with gratitude and aplomb.
Acting VC, awardees, and University community lauded this signature initiative of HRDU, a timely initiative among the Sri Lankan Universities. Addressing its mandate, HRDU of UoP has designed many inclusive programmes aiming to improve the growth and job engagement of UoP staff.
