The research of the Mental Health and Family Empowerment (MHFE) Lab focuses on:
Exploring the participation experiences of individuals with disabilities and/or mental health conditions and their family members
Identifying factors that impact the participation and mental health of individuals with disabilities and their family members, with a specific interest in exploring the intersectionality of disability, environment, and culture
Developing community-based interventions that empower individuals with disabilities and their family members, facilitate their participation, and foster their family resilience, using a co-design approach
The research aim is to develop a digital mental health intervention for parents of children with DD to foster family resilience, using a co-design approach.
The research aim is to describe Asian immigrant parents’ experiences regarding how they perceive and enact their parental role while supporting their child with developmental disabilities in the United States.
The research aim is to develop a brief intervention for individuals with suicide ideation and/or self-harm behaviors to decrease self-harm behaviors and foster help-seeking behaviors, using a co-design approach. (PI: Dr. Shu-Sen Chang)
