The International Education in G.R.E.S.
As we are now in a “flat” world, everyone is involved in the global tide, leaving us to face more and more threats. So do our students. Facing this ever-changing and uncertain world, it is more difficult for children to compete and cooperate, because the challenges do come from every corner on the earth. Students nowadays require stronger and more complete abilities, and this is why the international education is important. According to the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, the major objectives of international education in elementary schools are national recognition, international knowledge, global coopetition and worldwide responsibility, not only emphasizing the visions on foreign countries, but also on every aspects of Taiwan by comparing to others. As for the teaching methods, the main is to combine the international elements into courses and teaching, which is accompanied by international communication, teacher training and school internationalization.
In G.R.E.S., we have implemented every method mentioned above to response to the objectives provided by the Ministry of Education. Currently in GRES, the combination of international elements into class and all kinds of courses has been executed for many semesters, like western festival experiences. Also, the hardware has been continuously upgraded to support, like bilingual signs and English reading corners. In addition to basic courses and hardware, GRES has been dedicated to creating opportunities of direct communication for students.
G.R.E.S. now has partnered with Sheridan Park Elementary of USA to form a partnership exchanging ideas of Eco-campus, and also establishing a constant platform for students to communicate directly. Based on this partnership, our students are able to acquire the language and cooperation abilities and also simultaneously aware of the importance of environmental issues.
English Village
By simulating the actual environment of classroom, airport, hotel, restaurant or market and straight communicating with foreigners, the English Village allows students to learn English and experience the actual scenarios. Now the Tainan English village provides the service of one day tour of all kinds of scenarios and mobile vans for students around Tainan city.
International Communication
G.R.E.S. has always been dedicated to creating opportunities of international communication, where the partnership with Sheridan Park Elementary is a good example of constant connection to the foreign countries. Also, we are seizing every possible activities to welcome foreigners to visit our campus, like two Malaysian teachers visiting us for two week in December of 2016.
