Building Rockets
Students in this program learned about forces like propulsion, gravity, and thrust while also applying practical design skills to create rockets that they would launch over the skies of GPS.
Learning TinkerCad
While students didn't design their rockets from scratch, they did explore programs that would allow them to design their own creations. Students had time each day to grow their computer skills.

Drone Footage! (Note: There is no sound.)
First, you test for the direction of the wind...
Then, you try to launch, and...
if the launch fails, figure out why!
Students take out their own rockets for a launch! The relative success or failure of the launch, flight path, and parachute were examined with each turn, with help from the class and spectators.
After three failed launches, much trial and error, success!
