All choir students at GHS are placed in the Tiger Choir, which provides students to collaborate with all students in choir. This is a great process and allows students to get to sing a variety of music that better suits a large choir. Students are then placed into one of two choirs: concert choir or chamber choir. This placement allows for students to be involved in a direct learning environment and sing music that is better suited for smaller choirs. During these two choirs, students will work on music literacy skills, vocal technique, collaboration, and rehearsal skills. By auditioning students into seperate choirs, students are able to perform a wide variety of music, have more targeted learning goals, and take leadership roles at all grade levels. The Concert Choir is our non-audition choir and is geared towards delevoping skills as singers, musicians, and leaders. The Chamber choir is a small audition choir and is determined by the skills that have already exceded proficiencey. The amount of students selected for the Chamber Choir is determined by audition scores and a limit of 4 to 8 students per voice part.
