Ms. Taz and Mrs. Towe are here to support you with assistance with technology and information literacy integration and professional support. Make plans to bring your class to the library for book check out, instruction, or book Ms. Taz to come to your classroom in person or via Google Meet to deliver instruction.
Some of the services offered include:
Enhanced book check out - Book extra time for your students book check out and Ms. Taz will give book talks and recommend books for students before they hit the shelves.
Book Clubs or Literature Circles - We can set up book clubs with your students
Mini lesson and book check out - Book extra time for a mini-lesson on any of the topics below and beyond.
Get More Out of Google - Teach students tricks and tips for more successful and efficient Google searches.
Website Evaluation - Help students understand how to identify reliable Internet sources.
Genres- the fiction in our library is organized by genre, this makes for great opportunities to explore genres
Research, Step by Step - Book Ms. Taz for one step or all of them! Lessons include:
avoiding plagiarism
topic selection
selecting sources
note taking
works cited.
DISCUS - Database instruction tailored to your subject area or project needs.
Destiny - Finding books, reviewing books, making favorites lists
Ebooks / Sora - Show students how to access free ebooks and audio books and demonstrate access through computers and devices.
Research Project Guides - One stop information for student projects and unit studies. Ask Ms. Taz to create a Research Guide for your next project.
Technology Tools - Want to add a little technology to your lesson? Ms. Taz can help!
Makerspace - Our library's makerspace can support your instruction in many ways. We have 3D printers, Cricut and vinyl, a sewing machine, Legos, Snap Circuits, Magnatiles, Strawbees, Makey Makey and more.
Green Room - Our news studio can be booked for students to create videos for class projects.
Poetry Slams - explore the reading and writing of poetry and then end with a cafe style poetry slam complete with microphone and twinkle lights in the library.
LIBRARY POLICIES
Teachers may send up to 2 students at a time to the library. If your students need special help please let us know in advance. Each student that you send to the library must have a pass.
Treat the library as a classroom (or better!)
If your group would like to reserve the library after hours for a special event please check with Ms Taz or Ms. Towe to make your reservation. Groups should rearrange any furniture back to the way you found it, should call a custodian if cleaning is needed.
