We offer art to every elementary student once a week at Sterling. Each grade level studies a variety of artists and techniques of art making. Mrs. Harrington and I both change year to year in what classes we teach.
For my classes, I organize our year around a bigger idea or theme for each grade level.
This year I teach:
Kindergarten and 1st grade: Art centers exploring the elements and principles of art
3rd grade: SC art and artists
4th grade: Communities and Cultures- art from around the world
5th grade: Social Commentary in Art
You can follow along with the great art your child is making through Artsonia, our online art gallery! We hold on to all the artwork throughout the year to display at April Arts, then students make and bring home an art portfolio full of art at the end of the year.
