Forensics HONORS

Welcome to Mrs. Grier's Forensics class! 

This class is unique among the courses offered at Mauldin High School. We delve into topics that may be exciting, but unsettling, so having a clear understanding of the topics covered during this semester is key to deciding if this is a class you want to take.

What is Forensics?

Forensic Science uses scientific methods to investigate crimes and examine evidence that will eventually be presented in a court of law. It's a critical part of the criminal justice system, and forensic scientists use their findings to help investigators and prosecutors bring justice to victims of crimes. 

Some of the cases we will research this semester include:

• Murder of Marilyn Sheppard

• Jon Benet Ramsey Case

• Casey Anthony Case

• Atlanta Child Murders

Topics we will cover while we research these cases include:

• Ballistics

• DNA profiling

• Arson

• Fingerprinting

• Photogrammetry

• Blood evidence

• Forensic Entomology

Due to the nature of these cases, students will see graphic content and view material containing blood and gore, discuss the collection of materials in sexual assault cases, and read or hear inappropriate language.
