Our Purpose
The term graphic refers to the visual elements we see, while communication is the process of sharing information in any form. Together, graphic communications is the process of communicating ideas and messages visually through elements such as words, images, illustrations, photographs, and design.
Graphic Communications is not simply an art class—it is a powerful combination of creative problem-solving, digital technology, and hands-on production. Students learn how to take an idea from an initial sketch, transform it into a digital design, and bring it to life as a finished product that can be seen, touched, and used in the real world. This course bridges creativity and industry by teaching students the skills needed to turn their ideas into meaningful visual experiences and career-ready products.
Graphic Communications is a two year program consisting of Graphic Communications 1 and 2 during the first year and Graphic Communications 3 and 4 during the 2nd year of the program. The curriclum consists of using graphic software including the Adobe Suite. There is an emphasis placed on design princples, color theory, typography, project design, and taking the project all the way through the commercial printing process. Students will be able to use their creative skills to produce prodcuts related to the Commercial Graphics industry. Students will become certified in Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop.
