School Based Mental Health Counseling
School Mental Health Therapists are employees of Greenville Mental Health and are humble, caring, non-judgmental professionals who value developing connections with students and families. They seek to build resilience in our students and their families through effective long-term therapy and support in school and community settings.
What kind of services do they provide?
After an assessment, your child's School Mental Health Therapist will work with your child, your family, and your child's school to create a treatment plan that may include:
Individual Therapy
Family Therapy
Group Therapy
Behavior Modification
Psychosocial Rehabilitation
Family Support
They support you, your child, and your child's school in making the best decisions about your child's education and well-being.
Therapists assess students who may be at risk of harming themselves or others on-site as part of the school's crisis response team.
What can they work on with my child?
Therapy helps students cope with attention, emotions, behaviors, and relationships with others.
They are here to help your child in a crisis and can help intervene when there is an issue in your child's classroom.
What are the benefits of School Based Mental Health Services?
All therapies will be provided on site at school.
Students and families can see their therapist more often.
Less transportation for appointments means less time taken out of class for students and less time out of work for parents.
Therapists collaborate closely with everyone at your child's school to support your child.
I'm interested in setting up services with the Mental Health Counselor, what steps do I take?
Contact your student's school counselor, who can do an official referral for you. Then, the Mental Health Counselor will contact you to set up an intake session, which could take about two hours.
You may also contact the Mental Health Counselor directly to get more information about services.
