Mrs. Gray - 6th Grade

After seeing and experiencing first hand, the difference that strong role models can have on students at a young age, I knew I wanted to serve in this role for children as they navigate their way through school. In my 8 years as a school counselor, I have gotten to meet with students in their lowest places but also celebrate them at their highest. What a joy it has been to walk alongside students as they find their passions and overcome hurdles!

When I am not at school, my husband and I enjoy being outside with our doggie, Fisher, and our daughter, Madison!

Mr. Branche - 8th Grade

Hello Mauldin Middle! My name is Mr. Branche and I am one of your school counselors. I will be the 8th grade school counselor this school year.

I am originally from Florida and am relatively new to the Greenville area. My wife and I moved here in 2015. It was in 2015 that I got hired as an 8th grade math teacher in Greenville County. I taught math for 3 years, then had to take a year off for my school counseling internship, and then I got rehired to be a middle school counselor. I am married with 3 young sons at home! Our family loves to serve in our church, spend time together, hang out with friends, and watch sporting events! I am a big Florida State Seminoles fan! Go Noles! (I got my Bachelors degree from FSU and my Graduate degree from Liberty University, Go Flames!)

I am very proud to be a member of the Mauldin family! If there is anything you ever need, please reach out to me! I am here for you! Let's have a great year and Go Mustangs!

Mrs. Sponaugle - 7th Grade

Professional - This is my 25th year as a school counselor and my 10th year at Mauldin Middle School.  I began my counseling career in 1998 in primary and elementary guidance, but have spent the past 17 years working with middle school students.

Personal - I was born in Greenville, SC and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1991.  I then went to the University of South Carolina and obtained my B. A. in Psychology and my Masters in Counselor Education. When I'm not working I love spending time with my husband and 12 year old son.  We enjoy traveling to the beach, lake and mountains!

Why Middle School?

When I tell people that I work with Middle School students, their response is of disbelief and they question me as to why?  I simply tell them that I love this age group and my workday is never DULL!
