Welcome! I'm thrilled to begin my fourth year of teaching at Riverside High School and am looking forward to a fun and productive year of learning and growth.

Jumpstart Reading - English 1 Honors
Novella: The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway
Students are highly encouraged to purchase their own copy of the novella so they can annotate freely and complete jumpstart reading before the semester begins. (My copy of the book is from a Goodwill -- you are more than welcome to purchase a used copy.) If you can't purchase the book, I'll give you a copy to borrow! You may utilize a digital copy, but when we're working in class, you'll be required to use a physical copy of the book.
The novella must be read in its entirety by Friday, August 22.
Students should read the novella closely, paying attention to its plot, character development, and thematic topics; be prepared for discussion, individual assignments, and group assignments regarding this text.
