I believe in a student-centered classroom. In our classroom, students–not texts, novels, skills, or grades–are the main focus. Students’ learning is essential, but their health and wellbeing are paramount. I believe in clearly stating the respect and duties I have for meeting every student’s needs and then following through and demonstrating my respect for students, their lives, and their learning. With appropriate support, students will understand that they are ultimately responsible for their learning and their behavior in our classroom, leading to a stronger sense of self efficacy, independence, and classroom community. In this environment, I believe all students can learn.
