The Jazz Studies and Commercial Music Program provides an opportunity for high school students 9-12 to explore Americas classical music (Jazz) in a classroom setting. Students are welcome from the following disciplines: Jazz Guitar, Jazz Piano, Jazz Bass, Jazz Drums, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Strings and Jazz Voice.
First Year Students: study Jazz Theory 1 and Jazz Performance 1. One in-school Showcase and One public recital are given.
Second Year Students: study Jazz Combo 3 (Honors). One in-school Showcase and Three public recitals are given.
Third and Fourth Year Students: study Jazz Combo 4 and 5 (Honors). This Class is sponsored by The Peace Center For The Performing Arts. Three concerts are given at Mockingbird Cafe on the Peace Center campus, plus One in-school Showcase, and Three public recitals.
The Fine Arts Center Miles Davis Ensemble: perform for functions representing The Fine Arts Center around the region and state.
