Curriculum

The Jazz Studies and Commercial Music Program provides an opportunity for high school students 9-12 to explore Americas classical music (Jazz) in a classroom setting. Students are welcome from the following disciplines: Jazz Guitar, Jazz Piano, Jazz Bass, Jazz Drums, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Strings and Jazz Voice.

First Year Students: study Jazz Theory 1, and Jazz Performance 1. Two in school Showcases and One public recital are given.

Second Year Students: study Jazz Combo 3 (Honors). Two in school Showcases and Three public recitals are given.

Third and Fourth Year Students: study Jazz Combo 4 and 5 (Honors). This Class is sponsored by The Peace Center For The Performing Arts. Three concerts are given at Genevieve's on the Peace Center campus, plus Two in school Showcases, and Three public recitals.

The Fine Arts Center Jazz Allstars: perform for functions representing The Fine Arts Center around the region and state.
