What if my student has a crisis after hours?

Greenville County School District therapists provide school-based mental health support during the academic year and when school is in session.

We understand that concerns don’t always arise during school hours Below is a list of trusted community resources and emergency hotlines for students and families to use after hours, on weekends, or when school is not in session.

After Hours Mental Health Emergencies:

I am only in my office during school hours. If you have a mental health emergency after hours, please take the following actions:

For suicide concerns and immediate support, text or call 988
Go to your nearest Emergency Room or call 911
For abuse and neglect concerns, contact 911 first for immediate safety and then make a report at 1-888-CARE4US or 888-227-3487

Greater Greenville Mental Health Center Call the main line (864-241-1040) to schedule an appointment.
Bloom Therapy A large group therapy practice with locations in Greenville, Simpsonville, and Pickens County. They specialize in behavioral therapy for children and families but also offer a wide range of services. The waitlist can be long and after school appointments may be harder to get but they accept most insurances. Call to learn more.
Amaryllis Counseling A group practice near Pelham Rd. focusing on the LGBTQ+ community and its specific needs in our area. Our goal is to create a safe environment for the Queer Community to achieve their objectives. However, you don’t have to be LGBTQ+ to see us; we welcome everyone.
Unity Health on Main Services include pediatrics, women’s health, family practice, behavioural health, and case management.

They will collaborate with other local organizations within the community to provide the most comprehensive healthcare possible.

Community Organizations:

Tomorrow's Rainbow Bereavement peer support groups for children aged 3-18 who have experienced the death of a significant person in their lives. This organization utilizes mini-horses in their programming.

Safe Harbor Safe Harbor provides pathways for people impacted by domestic abuse with programs that offer emergency shelter, therapy and case management, housing assistance, and order of protection assistance.

Moms Matter (Fostering Great Ideas) Moms Matter is a program of FGI focused on supporting moms who are involved with DSS or at risk of losing their children. They offer an online and in-person support groups, and a parenting course. The program is run with a peer support mindset to empower moms to not feel alone.

Kidding Around Greenville Explore activities, classes, and child-friendly events throughout the year.

NAMI Greenville is a grassroots organization of families, friends and individuals whose lives have been affected by mental illness. Together, we advocate for better lives for those individuals who have a mental illness, and we offer support, education and advocacy as we do so.

211 Our 24/7 non-emergency resource line connects Greenville County families and individuals to available community resources, from food and housing to employment, transportation, healthcare and more.

National Center For Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) NetSmartz Educating our students about interactions online can be challenging. NetSmartz is NCMEC's online safety education program. It provides age-appropriate videos and activities to help teach children be safer online with the goal of helping children to become more aware of potential online risks and empowering them to help prevent victimization by making safer choices on- and offline.

Psychiatric Medicine Recommendations:

Start by talking to your child's pediatrician. If your child is a current client with me, I am happy to provide a letter with a summary of services and diagnosis for you to take with you. If not, they can do their own assessment and evaluation.
