How do I know if my student is eligible for services?Â
Navigating your child's mental health can feel overwhelming and uncertain—but you’re not alone. We’re here to support, guide, and partner with you every step of the way.Â
To be eligible for school-based mental health services your student's presenting symptoms and concerns have to show impaired functioning in at least two of the following four areas: school, home, social and/ or community.Â
It is required that a parent/guardian will participate in the initial diagnostic assessment as well as ongoing family therapy sessions as outlined during the assessment progress. Parent/guardian involvement is critical to a child's success in therapy.
This is a voluntary service. A student must want to participate in services and want to make changes for progress to take place.Â
To Make a Referral
School Counselors Counselors, Teachers, and Caregivers can refer a student for mental health services.Â
Students can also self-refer for services but will need a caregiver/ guardian to sign needed paperwork.Â
Referrals are prioritized by severity of needs. If you submit a referral and have questions about referral status, please email me or call my office phone at 864-355-5995
Intake Process
Parent or legal guardian will need to attend the initial appointment and sign necessary consents to begin therapy services.
The appointment will take place at J.L. Mann High School.
Prepare for the appointment to last 60 to 90 minutes.
If your student has Medicaid, please bring a copy of the Medicaid card.Â
If your student does not have Medicaid, the services can be provided at no cost.Â

I am available during school hours only. The best way to reach me is email, since I have clients in my office most of the school day. I will return phone calls and emails within 24-48 hours when I am in the office. Â
I maintain a small caseload of clients and generally stay full. If you have a concern about your child, let's discuss the best option to support your child's needs, which may include referrals to providers outside of school.Â
