What is Reflex? A: Reflex is a fun, interactive game that our district purchases for your student to become fluent in their math facts in a way that doesn't even feel like work. You can earn coins to build your treehouse, enhance your avatar, and earn milestones that celebrate your growth every step of the way! Games are constantly changing and unlocking to keep things interesting!
Why is it important for my student to get on Reflex? A: From telling time, measuring objects, solving real world problems, and even future skills such as multiplication and division your student is going to need to be fluent in addition and subtraction facts. A student who can not add and subtract quickly without counting on their fingers or using other strategies will find all other math skills challenging. Reflex is a great way for learners to learn or continue to keep their math fact fluency skills sharp!
What is a greenlight? A: Students need to be consisitently working to earn a greenlight. If they're simply just on the site they will not earn a greenlight. When your student has been working hard on their math facts for a set amount of time they finally filled up their greenlight. They can earn rewards in the game and in Ms. Fusco's class by working hard on Reflex daily!
How do I get on Reflex? A: Your student gets on Reflex independently every day at school, but if they forget you first need to login to GCS Classlink LaunchPad using their username and password (taped to their device). Then they need to click the orange "Explore Learning" app and it will immediatly launch Reflex.
Other than Reflex, what can my student do to build their math fast facts?
A: Go to Walmart or any dollar store and pick up a pack of Addition & Subtraction flashcards and work with your student 10 min. each day. There are also a ton of ideas online of DIY hands-on games you can play with your child as well as addition and subtraction games you can buy in stores and on Amazon! Math is meant to be fun so keep it fun! :)
