Fiction Books - the author's purpose is to entertain you. Fiction books are about things that are not real, such as animals talking which is Animal Fantasy. Animal stories that try to teach you a lesson are called Fables or Folktales.
Some Fiction books are about things that could happen in real life, but didn't. That's called Realistic Fiction.
Nonfiction Books - the author's purpose is to inform you and teach you about real facts and information.
Sometimes the author is trying to persuade you to do something, such as care about a social cause or change the way you think.
