High schools in the Greenville County Schools district work hard to find ways to offer what Superintendent Royster calls G+ - Graduation Plus. It is our desire to provide every Greenville County Schools graduate with the opportunity to earn a credential or credit in addition to the South Carolina diploma they earn.
One of the credentials offered to all Greenville County Schools juniors is a WIN certificate. This is a work-ready credential that some employers use to screen applicants for skills. By passing the WIN in high school, a student heads to life after K-12 schooling with verification of their employment skills, including reading, writing, mathematics and soft skills, in the form of a certificate.
Many local employers employ a WIN certificate as a way to identify desirable employees when hiring. Does your company look for WIN certification? I would love to add your business name here! Please let me know at calsip@greenville.k12.sc.us.
Local businesses who look for WIN certificates as part of their hiring process are posted below.
The WIN is offered twice a year at J. L. Mann High School - once in the fall for seniors who haven't taken/passed the WIN previously, and once in the spring for all current juniors.
Our Fall WIN will be held on October 29, 2024 during 1st and 2nd periods. Students who qualify to take the Fall WIN will be contacted by Dr. Alsip.
Our Spring WIN will be held on April 1, 2025 during 1st and 2nd periods. All juniors will take the WIN on that day. Earned certificates are sent to schools over the summer for distribution to students in August.
