ACCESS is a statewide assessment in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking that is intended to determine a student's proficiency in the English language. Students who take this test include any student whose primary home language is not English. According to South Carolina law, qualified students are required to participate each year until they pass all sections of ACCESS.
ACCESS is an online test, but it must be taken at J. L. Mann. Virtual students are required to arrange for transportation to Mann on the days of their tests. There are four sections to the test, and each section must be given on a different day.
Parents of qualified students will be notified in writing by a letter sent home from the school. Notice will be given approximately two weeks before the assigned test dates.
