Services

Pelham Road Elementary has a comprehensive and developmental school counseling program, which utilizes a planned program of activities that address the three components of student educational development, student career development, and student personal/social development. The school counseling program is provided to all students, K-12, and provides services through individual, group, and classroom guidance. We also support students through indirect services such as coordinating the Mentor Upstate program, consulting with teachers, parents, and specialists.

Classroom lessons

Pelham Road students participate in classroom/core curriculum lessons every other week for all grade levels. During these lessons, we teach students about social and emotional learning, as well as helping students develop career awareness and academic skills needed for school success.

Small Groups

Small groups are offered throughout the year on a variety of topics. Topics are determined by school needs and change throughout the year. Some examples are friendship skills, coping with divorce or grief, anxiety and more. Teachers, administrators and parents can request that a student participate in a small group.

Individual Counseling

Students can meet with the counselor one on one to assist with social, emotional and academic needs. Referrals can be made by students, parents, teachers and/or administration. We can also refer to our school based mental health counselor. Please email or call us if you would like us to meet with your child.
