5th Grade Parents,
It is hard to believe, but it is time to start thinking about middle school. Curriculum nights will be starting soon. I will link those dates at the bottom. It has most of the Curriculum night information for the middle schools our students will attend. If the date and/or time of the school your child is attending is missing, the middle school's website is the best source to locate that information.
We will be taking students going to GMA and Beck on 6th grade orientation field trips. Students going to GMA will visit on Feb. 11 from 9:15-10:15 and students going to Beck Academy will visit on February 11th from 10:30-12:30. Permission forms have been sent home and are due back by Jan. 16. If your child is going to a school other than GMA or Beck, you can reach out to the middle school about scheduling a school tour.
We will register 5th grade students for their middle school February 16-20 at school. Teachers will submit recommendations for Math and ELA based on District guidelines. All students will be preregistered for Science 6, Social Studies 6, and one semester of PE. I will send home the registration form for you and your child to select the other electives prior to the week of registration together. Your child will return that form to school, and that is what I will use to register them into the system. This is not a final schedule. We are simply putting in your requests. GCS's website provides a course catalog of classes and electives offered from each school to see what is available. As I receive pertinent middle school registration information, I will add it school links below.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns regarding middle school registration. If your child will be attending private school, moving out of district (including Langston), or does not plan to attend the school for which they are zoned, please let me know.
