Robotics Club

Our Fisher robotics program is an after chool club for students interested in highly competative robotics. Students can expect to work in teams between 4-6 students using the VEX IQ or VEX V5 platform. Competitions take place locally and around the state. High performing teams may even participate out of state at signature events and even the Robotics World Championship. Fisher Middle teams have qualified for the World Championships since 2019.

Fisher Middle VEX Robotics Facts and History

Before Fisher Middle, Coach Beyerle learned the VEX platform through PLTW POE training and running a VEX summer camp at Roper Mtn Science Center.
Mr. Beyerle started coaching Fisher robot teams in 2017.
His first experience with VEX robotics was reffing in the 2011-2012: Gateway robotics season.
Coach Beyerle started with VEX Cortex 2.0 in 2011, (before VEX V5) showing Mauldin High students how to build and program vex clawbots.
Coach Beyerle began VEX Camps at Roper Mtn back in 2016.
In 2019, he started VEX IQ for the game Squared Away. funded by a PEP grant.
In 2019, Fisher students qualified for worlds but unfortunately this was the only year VEX Worlds was cancelled due to COVID 19.
In 2020, Fisher students qualified for VEX Worlds and did skills matches via live stream due to COVID 19.
Mr. Johnson joined as a coach for robotics in 2023.
In 22-23, one Fisher IQ team triple crowned the State Championships earning the top skills, teamwork champions, and overall excellence award. These award banners still hang in the school.
In 24-25, 9 Fisher teams ( 6 V5 and 3 IQ) make it to states and 4 teams make it to the VEX V5 World Championships
In 24-25, Fisher students earned over 34 awards during the season.
In the 25-26 season, we had team 40994E triple crown at the Lions event winning skills, tournament champions and excellence.
Ms. Deas joined as a coach for robotics in 2025.

In 25-26, 6 Fisher teams qualified for the state championships.
In 25-26, Fisher teams brought home the state award for tournament champions and the state excellence award. These award banners still hang in the school.
In 25-26, all 4 of our V5 teams qualified for the World Championships. 2 teams 40994B Atomic Nuke and 40994E Obsidian Outlaws made it to the World elimination rounds in their division.
Team 40994B Atomic Nuke earned the Sportsmanship VEX Worlds Award in their division. The first VEX Worlds Award in Fisher Middle history.
In 25-26, Fisher students earned over 35 awards.
In 26-27, South Carolina school event partners chose to host REC events for the state.
In the 26-27, we have 6 VEX teams, 4 V5 and 2 IQ teams joining the REC robot events.
