These are Professional Development opportunities that are specific to a school or a content. District 6 Credit will be added to your District 6 Transcript after attendance is confirmed (no later than August 29, 2025)
Substitutes that are registered and active with the district can take professional development classes for CDE License Renewal Hours (Certified Subs) or Contact Hours (Classified Subs) in most cases at no charge.
In courses where class size is limited, priority will be given to District 6 contracted employees. Call the Office of Professional Development at 970-348-6280 two weeks before class starts to check availability.
If your status changes in the District (i.e., if you withdraw your substitute status, or the class is full and a currently contracted employee is on the waitlist), you may be removed from a class roster without notification.
Please monitor your emails, check your PowerSchool account, or call the Professional Development office prior to attending the course to verify your status.
Teachers who retired from District 6 may attend courses for $50.00 per day or $25.00 per ½ day. Please contact the Office of Professional Development at 970-348-6280.
Teachers from outside District 6 may attend selected course offerings on a space-available basis. The fee for Out-of-District participants is $200 per day. Please contact the Office of Professional Development at 970-348-6280.
Teachers from a District 6 Charter school may attend any session in the Culturally & Linguistically Diverse and Co-Teaching Summit free of charge.
All other Summit sessions may be attended for a fee of $50 per half-day session. Please contact the Office of Professional Development at 970-348-6280.
Registering for courses helps the Office of Professional Development, and course facilitators, plan materials and activities based on the registration records. If you do not register for a course prior to attending, you may be asked to leave if the course is full or additional resources/materials are not available.
Registration for courses closes the Monday two (2) weeks prior to the course. If the course registration is closed and you are interested in attending, please email the Professional Development Coordinator at emcnichol@greeleyschools.org.
PowerSchool How to Links
It is imperative that you unregister for courses as soon as you know you are unable to attend, as there may be a waitlist for the course. You must unregister at least two weeks in advance. Unregistering for courses also helps the Office of Professional Development and facilitators anticipate the amount of materials needed for the course. If you are unable to unregister, please contact the Office of Professional Development (x6280) and they will assist you in removing your registration from the course.
Please check the class description to see if there are any materials you are required to have for the class or special instructions, such as a prerequisite for the course. This will also indicate a specific meeting room.
Occasionally, there will be time or location changes for individual classes. In addition, if there are fewer than 10 people registered for a class, the class may be canceled. Please check PowerSchool and/or email before the class begins to be certain you have this up-to-date information. You will receive a full refund for canceled classes.
In order for everyone to have a pleasant and productive learning opportunity, it is important that each participant follows a few simple guidelines or norms. The following norms have been developed by the District 6 Professional Development Council and will be posted and reviewed by the facilitator at the start of each session. A positive, respectful climate enhances the learning opportunities for everyone!
A - Ask questions
E - Engage fully
I - Integrate new information
O - Open your mind to diverse views
U - Utilize what you learn
And always Y - share Your truth
You may bring your own snacks and drinks to classes as none will be provided.
In order to receive District 6 credit or a stipend for attending PD in District 6, you must attend the entire session and complete the assignment (if applicable). It will be your responsibility to sign the Record of Attendance each morning to verify your attendance. If an unforeseen event occurs which requires you to miss up to one hour of a 7.5 contact hour course, please notify the facilitator in advance of your absence and complete the appropriate form, which is available from your facilitator. The facilitator will submit this form to the Office of Professional Development along with the attendance record.
If you find it necessary to miss more than one hour for each day of a course, you may forfeit the opportunity to receive credit or a stipend for this course.
It is very important that each participant completes the District 6 evaluation form from your instructor. Please take the time provided by the instructor at the end of class to complete the course evaluation. The information is used to evaluate the effectiveness of individual professional development opportunities and as a component of our District 6 accountability system.
District 6 Credit is available to District 6 employees who take approved classes that occur outside contract time. See specific class for credit guidelines. Classes that occur outside District 6 must be pre-approved by the Office of Professional Development. To obtain this form, go to the District 6 website at www.greeleyschools.org, select Departments/Human Resources/Certified Staff/Horizontal Advancement/click on District 6 Transcript Preapproval form. You must submit this application to the Office of Professional Development two weeks before the class begins. Courses during the Summits, do not require preapproval for D6 Credit. Please see course descriptions for information about how to earn D6 Credit.
District 6 Credit can be used for salary advancement and for CDE license renewal. Please see the Master Contract for further information on this process. District 6 Credit is awarded in half credit increments (7.5 contact hours = 0.5 credit, 15 contact hours = 1.0 credit, etc.) In order to qualify for salary advancement, your District 6 coursework must be completed and submitted to Human Resources on your D6 Transcript (does not have to be Official) according to published timelines.
All courses will count for CDE Renewal hours.
You can use these hours when renewing your professional license.
Occasionally, you will have the option of choosing either District 6 Credit or a stipend for a particular course. The stipend is available for certified employees only, unless otherwise agreed upon with the Office of Professional Development. You must clearly mark your choice on the participant sign-in sheet. You can expect to see the stipend in your paycheck in the month following the event. *You may NOT receive both a stipend and District 6 Credit for any course.
The Office of Professional Development maintains a professional development transcript as a courtesy for every employee through PowerSchool. Please go to PowerSchool to review your transcript for accuracy.
It is your responsibility to check your transcript for accuracy and to contact the Office of Professional Development if you have a question or concern.
