Kanye West, an American rap artist, has recently been in the news for multiple controversies. Bloomberg, Yahoo News, and Complex all, as of late, spoke on Kanye’s bipolar disorder and personal relationships. Kanye's relationship with his wife, Kim Kardashian, openly deteriorated in front of the general public. Along with his divorce, Kanye's mental health also failed.
Kanye West is a celebrity known for his highly touted rap albums, like My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Ye, and Donda, his latest album. The album Donda was dedicated to Kanye’s mom, who died on Nov. 10, 2007 and the album was released on Aug. 26, 2021. Not too long before the release of Donda, Kanye's wife at the time, Kim Kardashian, divorced him due to unhappiness. She said in a Vogue interview, “For so long, I did what made other people happy. And I think in the last two years I decided, I'm going to make myself happy.” After this, Kim Kardashian got with the comedian Pete Davidson, who is the replacement to Kanye’s position as the father figure of his kids. Pete Davidson has been shown to be living with Kim K. and Kanye’s kids, as well as getting his kids' names tattooed on him. Throughout all of this, Kanye was not too happy with the events taking place.
Kanye West was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016 after being hospitalized for a psychiatric emergency. During this time, he experienced manic episodes, openly showing the issue on Twitter--constantly tweeting, 24/7. From 2021-2022, Kanye has shown the same symptoms of being in a manic episode as he did in 2016. According to the Mayo Clinic, “While the manic episodes of Bipolar I Disorder can be severe and dangerous, individuals with Bipolar II Disorder can be depressed for longer periods, which can cause significant impairment.” This disproves any speculation about Kanye’s bipolar disorder. However, Kanye still continues to fall apart over these controversies.
Throughout Kanye’s life, his bipolar disorder has caused a lot of damage to his relationships and music career. It is shown specifically on Instagram that Kanye is still causing problems with others, specifically Bobby Martin, one of the board of directors of Gap. The Wall Street Journal states, “Gap Inc. is winding down its partnership with Kanye West, saying the company and Mr. West are ‘not aligned’ in how they work together.”
It is unknown what the future holds for Kanye. What do you think will happen: Kanye continues to cause problems and issues due to his bipolar disorder or will he continue to make music and rise up?
