The Scroll Club
Advisor: Jenny Tyrrell
President: Deenie Bulyalert
Meeting times: Mondays 3:30-4:30
Location: Room 235
The Scroll is Grants Pass High School's student-run digital school newspaper. Students create a variety of articles for other students, parents and teachers to read. From informative articles and photojournalism to opinion or satire. GPHS updates, sports, pop culture, reviews, creative corner and more! According to Jenny Tyrrell, advisor of The Scroll club, "Here at Scroll we run the digital newspaper website for Grants Pass High School. I'm proud of this group and what they have created. My grandma was a journalist, which inspired me. This club was brought to me to advise in 2019 and became digital from there. As a teacher, I quickly realized how I can use this class to explore what I think is the goal of education."
If you would like to write and create articles for The Scroll then you can join the club and or take the Journalism class. If you do not have time after school or no room to make for another elective, then you can still write for The Scroll. Just keep in contact with Tyrrell.
Deenie, a senior at Grants Pass and the president of The Scroll says her favorite part is running a team and the collaboration of working together as a family is really eye-opening. They joined The Scroll during their sophomore year of high school and have loved it ever since. Deenie likes to write and incorporate articles about mental health into The Scroll.

Z Club
Advisor: Fawn Perry
President: Jerilyn Cruz
Meeting times: Tuesdays 3:30-4:30
Location: Room 206
Z club is an international youth movement and community service club, led and organized by students who focus on leadership, advocacy, and representing gender equality in school. According to Fawn Perry, advisor of Z Club at Grants Pass High School, "Z club is a service club that gives to the community and advocates for gender equality."
Z club is sponsored by Zonta International, which is a service organization that advocates for women, standing for equality in education, and ending gender-based violence and child marriage. Girls and women are given the opportunity to participate in educational programs and service projects through Zonta International, says Zonta International.
"I advise this club because I like helping kids give to the community and make changes. I think you should join this club if you like to advocate for equality and give back to the community." Ms. Perry says that, if you like to have fun, you should join this club because they do secret Santa and parties, too.
Jerilyn, president of Z club, says that her favorite part of being president of Z club is "probably seeing all the newbies and freshmen excited to help the community. Seeing them excited about getting involved with community service. I remember enjoying my sophomore year after I joined and feeling the same. I joined Z club late freshman year because of COVID and I wanted to get more involved in the school more."
