Strategic Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Plan

The Grants Pass School District is a community of learners committed to equity and the success of each student.

All students are entitled to a high-quality educational experience, free from discrimination or harassment based on perceived race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.

Our Purpose: To create a more inclusive, culturally agile, and welcoming school district where ALL can thrive.

We are a TEAM of students, families, teachers, staff, and administrators working together.

We VALUE Safety, Trust, Respect, Kindness, Empathy, Accountability, Understanding, Support, Courage, Humanity, Acceptance, Truth.

Our strategic plan evolves to meet the needs of our diverse learner population. There are five aspects of our strategic plan that we are continuously developing, gathering feedback on, implementing, assessing, and then developing again. The aspects are listed below and each has its own page with an action plan and evidence of accomplishments:

  1. Leadership

  2. Hiring practices

  3. Cultural events

  4. Communication

  5. Action teams

Equity Audit

We are always looking for ways to improve. One of those ways is to get good data on how we all are doing. Please help us out and take our Equity Audit. We have one for students, staff, and community members. No personal information is recorded and all participants are anonymous.

Grants Pass School District Equity Blog

During the school year, we publish a monthly blog to highlight the focus of that month and to share resources that might helpful to classrooms and instruction. To listen to or read our monthly Equity Blogs, click here.

Process and Strategy

Our process is an iterative process in that it is ever-evolving and adapting to the needs of our community. This graphic comes from Collective Impact and speaks to the creation, development, implementation, maturation, and re-creation phases of a healthy cycle.

Double Helix Design

Another way to think about this work is the double helix model that most of us will remember from biology and how our DNA model looks. In a double helix model, the work is cyclic; however, in this kind of cycle, as the work is re-energized and reformed, rather than coming around and staying in the same place like a circle, this model is always moving forward. Our work should make an impact and we should improve. Our practice should move forward.
