why students need to power Chromebooks off at the end of the day

Student Chromebooks get updates automatically when they are powered completely off and plugged into power overnight. If our students forget to turn the Chromebook off or if the charger is not plugged in the Chromebook may miss an update. You can check if a Chromebook is up to date by following the "UPDATING CHROME OPERATING SYSTEM" directions that are above.

These updates are sent out every night intermittently to different schools in Granite School District. This means that even if you plug a Chromebook in and turn it off it may not receive the update, sometimes it could take a few days before our school gets the update pushed. If you do not want to wait for the update you can install it manually following the directions above.
