Get some sidewalk chalk and head outside. Start by drawing several shapes in different sizes. Color some of them in, and leave others blank in the middle. While drawing, talk about the different shapes and sizes. Compare and contrast shapes, sizes and colors. When you are done drawing it is time for your child to work on prepositions in relation to the shapes you just drew.
Here are some things to try.
Stand on one of the shapes you drew.
Step off one of the shapes you drew.
Step in one of the shapes you drew.
Step out of one of the shapes you drew.
Step over one of the shapes you drew.
Step next to one of the shapes you drew.
Step in front of one of the shapes you drew.
Step behind one of the shapes you drew.
Step around one of the shapes you drew.
Step through one of the shapes you drew.
Change up what color, shape, or size you use. For example…
Step on a small circle.
Step over a large square.
Step in a green circle.
Have Fun!
