Hello Teachers,
I hope you that you are having a wonderful year working in Dual Immersion. As you may know, the Dual Immersion endorsement is a requirement for all teachers working in the program and Granite wants to make sure you have an easy path to getting that endorsement. To that end, we are offering the required course, EDUC 5700 DLI Foundations course in an intensive, in-person course this summer. The course will be taught in person, June 2-3 and June 9, 10, and 11 from 8:15-4:30. This allows for 2nd Year AUDII (June 4-5) and a 3-Day weekend. Mike Kraniski (mckraniski1@graniteschools.org) will be the course instructor. Questions related to course assignments, readings, and schedules should be directed to him. Any questions related to UVU (admission, registration, payment of fees, withdrawal from class, transcript requests, etc.) should be directed to Abigail Munoz, Endorsement Program Coordinator (endorsements@uvu.edu or 801-863-7614) and should be covered during our course orientation via Zoom (date to be announced).
We have been fortunate to be able to offer this course annually for several years, but due to current circumstances we might have to change to offering it every other year. As such, if you are contemplating it in the near future, we recommend looking at this year. In a year that Granite does not offer the Foundations Course, typically there are courses from other districts and universities for you to choose from.
To reserve your spot, please register with the Granite School District, by email (mckraniski1@graniteschools.org) the following:
• Your full name
• Your preferred e-mail
• Your current teaching position (school and school district) and experience
• A check or money order for the $400 district fee payable to Granite School District (fee is waived for current Granite teachers)
The check should be sent to: Selene Harrison in Curriculum & Instruction D211 Granite School District 2500 S State St. South Salt Lake, UT 84115
• UVU registration (including $80 payment for everyone) will take place after you have registered through Granite.
Please see attached documents for additional information. This course will be taught very similarly to Nick Blight's course as I have partnered with him. Once registered, towards the end of April, I will send out course readings, the syllabus, and additional info. to get you started before our orientation and course itself.
Thanks and looking forward to working with you all and learning from one another!
Mike
