Zach and I surveyed our Grand Canyon Students. The High School students had a survey of their favorite holiday meal. We surveyed the Middle School students about their favorite holiday dessert and the Elementary students on their favorite holiday movie and song.
First of all we asked the high school students what is your favorite holiday meal. Their choices were turkey or ham.
Their favorite vegetables were green beans or corn and their favorite side dish choices were mashed potato or sweet potato or stuffing.
Then we surveyed the Middle School students what their favorite holiday dessert is: cherry pie, apple pie, pumpkin cake, or others. The top outcome was cheese cake and the second was pumpkin pie and lastly was cookies.
Finally we surveyed the Elementary school on their favorite holiday movie and holiday song. The holiday movie choices were Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, The Grinch, The Santa Clause, Polar Express, and Home Alone. Holiday song The Twelve Days of Christmas, Jingle Bells, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, We Wish You a Merry Christmas, and Silent Night.
For the Elementary survey we asked 40 students out of the Elementary School. Their favorite movie was The Grinch and that was 15 out of 40. The second choice was Home Alone which was 12 out 40. The third choice was Rudolph which was 8 out of 40.
In the hope we could make voices across the school heard, the Phantom Times conducted a survey to see what kids liked about the school and what they didn't like or could be improved. The survey was open answer, so we received a great variety of responses. In order to condense the information we received, the survey staff tallied all the collected answers, then chose the four most common answers in each section, then put all the rest into an other category. This link will take you to a Google Doc with just the graphs on it. This link will take you to a Google Sheet with the graphs and the tables used to make the graphs. Finally, this will take you to a Google Doc with all of the individual answers given, as well as the amount of people who voted on the answers. The totals for each graph are a bit off as some kids did not give the same amount of answers for likes and dislikes, or repeated themselves.
We wanted to kickstart our 2019-2020 school year by surveying our kindergartners about their first day of elementary school, our 6th graders about their first day of middle school, and our 9th graders about their first day of high school.
Here's what the kindergartners had to say:
14 sixth graders reported that their first day of school was “alright,” 5 said it was “fantastic,” 4 said it was “good,” 2 said it was “scary,” and 1 said it was “boring.” The second question we asked was, “What’s your favorite subject?” Out of 26 students, 8 like P.E. best, 7 like math best, 4 like social studies best, we had a tie in the category of “other.”
8 ninth graders reported that their first day of school was “good,” 12 said it was “alright,” 2 said it was “scary,” 3 said it was “fantastic,” and 6 said it was “boring.” The second question we asked was, “What’s your favorite subject?” Out of 28 students, 10 like Algebra I best, 8 like English I best, 5 like Career Exploration best, 2 like Earth Science, 3 like P.E., 2 like World History, and 8 chose the category of “other.” (A lot of students chose more than one answer.)
