"Disney Plus"

Disney Plus is going to be one of the most, must see,and on-demand streaming service in 2019. Disney Plus came out November 12, 2019. Disney Plus is an American Subscription video owned by “Walt Disney Direct-Consumer and International division of the Walt Disney Company.” It debuted in the United States, Canada, and the Netherlands. Walt Disney was created by a person named, Walt Elia Disney. Walt was an American entrepreneur, animator, voice actor, and film producer. He created Mickey Mouse which made him win up to 22 Academy Awards during his lifetime and was the founder of theme parks Disneyland and Walt Disney World. He is Also the Co-founder of Walt Disney with his brother Roy, which became one of the “best-known motion-picture production companies in the world.”

Disney plus has obviously Disney but it also has Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and National Geographic. Netflix and Hulu has quite a competition with Disney plus in 2019. I personally like Disney plus because it has all the 2000's and early 2000's TV shows and movies. It is just a way of bringing back some old memories from back when I was little.

"Joker"

On Oct 4th, 2019, the new movie Joker was released and had everyone “Shook”. It made the DC comics more attractive and made people aware of the “Joker” backstory. Joker was directed by Todd Phillips, “who is an american filmmaker and actor. He is well known for writing and directing the comedy films Road Trip, Old School, Starsky & Hutch, The Hangover Trilogy, and Due Date.” Phillips was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and the Golden Lion. The main character Joaquin Phoenix is an American actor who has won several awards, including a Grammy Award, The Golden Globe Award, and nomination for three Academy Awards. Phoenix played the role of Joker, which is a villain in the DC comics. In order to be Joker, he had to lose about 52 pounds to play the role. I’ve seen on some websites that Joaquin has done his research. He practiced his laugh and how the Joker acts from the actor Jack Nicholson. Overall Joaquin is a great actor and had me in the theater saying “ that’s how the joker supposed to act, depressed, angry, confused, and happy. The movie got a 93% liked, 8.8/10 IMDb, 69% Rotten Tomatoes, and 59% Metacritics.

I personally think that, throughout, the movie it was great. It had the Jokers background, Bruce Wayne's background, and had me feeling good about the movie. It teaches you to be kind to people around you, or you could end up in a place where you don't think about as much. It kinda taught me to be myself in a way.

"Lose You to Love Me"

This month is a bit different, instead of discussing the rhythmic part of the song and my personal opinion, I will be analyzing the lyrics and what they mean. Everyone remembers Justin Beiber and Selena Gomez’s relationship. Jelena, if you will. Everyone who followed them knows how much they loved each other, and how messy their breakup was. When they reunited in 2017, it seemed to be doomed from the second it started. “Lose You to Love Me” is Gomez’s first single in two years, since the release of “Wolves” in 2017. This song basically shows us Selena’s perspective of her and Justin’s relationship and the crazy end to it.

The opening lyrics go straight to the point. Selena reveals that “You [Justin] promised the world and I fell for it..” This gives her listeners an idea that it was hard since it restarted. When they decided to come back together, fan guys/girls went crazy. No one understood how one-sided it really was until Selena described it in this song. Numerous times, Gomez has claimed she always put him first, while she fell “by the wayside”.

Lyrics like “Set fire to my purpose / And I let it burn / You got off on the hurting when it wasn’t yours” show a side of justin that only she could see, and it wasn’t a good side. In the end Selena tells that Justin was the one who left her. Barely 6 months after that, Justin had replaced their relationship with being engaged to be married to Hailey Baldwin. Extreme Selena fans have given lots of hate towards Baldwin since their engagement. Selena has taken to social media to tell her fans not to “tear down other women”.

No matter whose side you’re on, you have to feel for Selena after pouring out her feelings on this track. She describes giving everything to this relationship, and getting nothing back. This song can teach a lot about our relationships, and how we should be thinking of every side of every relationship. I personally really enjoyed the song, and it seems like her fanbase went totally crazy about this single.

Joker memes

Following the recent release of the new movie “Joker”, a flurry of new memes has been created to cement the legacy of this movie. This movie seemed to be almost perfectly timed, as memes involving clowns are making a steady rise to the top. Even before the movie was released, images containing Joaquin Phoenix’s rendition of Joker were made into memes. For example, many memes have been made out of an image of Joker standing on stairs dancing. This format can be used to portray the subject’s excitement towards and event or an idea. This image of Joker dancing can also be combined with an image of him before his transformation as a contrast to his happy dancing mood. Another example is a still image of Joker getting hit by a taxi. This format can be used to portray negative feelings towards an event or idea.

Joker memes have been used since before the movie was even released, since the images used were in the official trailer. Since the trailer was first released on April 3rd, these images have been available for use. The rise of the use of clowns in modern meme culture has seen the popularity of these joker memes rise as well. The hype will fall eventually, but until then, consider yourself a clown. 🤡

"Hollywood's Bleeding"

Posty is on a roll. The release of “Hollywood’s Bleeding,” Post Malone ’s third studio album, earns the artist his second #1 Album on theBillboard Top 200. It was released on September 6th, 2019, and was recorded between June of 2018 and July of 2019. The album consists of 17 songs that include features from DaBaby , SZA, Ozzy Osbourne , Future, Halsey, Meek Mill, Lil' Baby, Travis Scott, Swae Lee, and Young Thug.

In recent times, Post Malone has been asking for his listeners to consider his music as “genre-less.” This brand new album is a perfect example of that claim. Different websites have categorized “Hollywood's Bleeding” as synth-pop, rock, rap, trap, and hip hop, which by any means does not confine it to those genres at all. In my opinion, it does fit every single one of those categories. That being said, it fits many more than that. For example, songs like “Circles” or “Allergic” give off alternative vibes, while a song like “Take What You Want” sounds like something straight off a “Black Sabbath” album (hence the Ozzy feature) with its own modern trap-like parts when Travis Scott gives his verse.

This album is great. From genre-bending singles to a classic Posty anthem, this album has something for every single mood. Since the album came out, I want to listen to it every moment of the day. Before it, I never really listened to much of Post Malone's studio albums. I was aware of his musical talent, but I only heard his singles. I can safely say that when I do listen to this album, I don’t ever find my finger hovering over the skip button. It has me hooked from the first title track all the way to the end. I hope Post Malone keeps up his unique persona because with it comes great music.

Toy Story 4

On June 21st, 2019, Toy Story 4 was the movie to watch. It got everyone saying, “ Finally, they made a new one!” But it also got people thinking back to their childhood memories of the first three Toy Story movies. Toy Story 4 was directed by Josh Cooley, “who is an American animator, screenwriter, director, and voice actor. He is best known work film Inside out and directed the short film Riley’s First Date?”. Toy Story 4 is a Walt Disney Film that had a 90% rate who liked the movie, 8.1/10 on IMDb, 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 84% on Metacritic.

I personally like the movie because it made me laugh in some parts and feel sad in other parts, and it got me to thinking that some things you just have to let go to make other people happy. Rather than holding on to the past, it’s best to let go instead of hurting yourself for trying. It taught me to make a lot of memories with the ones you enjoy being with the most until it gets to the point where you don’t get to see then like you used to before.

Did you know Toy Story 4 is the the fifth-highest-grossing animated film of all time? Right above that is Toy Story 3, the fourth-highest-grossing animated film.

iPhone 11

The iPhone 11 came out in 2019 and became popular in a series of memes. One of the new features on the iPhone is the camera. People were straight-up making fun of the camera because it looks like you just added circled camera to the back. One of the memes that I find funny is the stages of mitosis beginning with the iPhone 7 with single-lens camera, iPhone X with the double-lens camera vertical, then the iPhone 11 with the triple-lens camera. I personally think the memes about the new iPhones are hilarious. The other meme I also think is funny is the iPhone laying flat and the camera is like a stove top with a crockpot cooking food. I’ve seen so many memes on my Insta feed and my Facebook, and it’s just insane how many people just think it looks ugly.

April 5th, 2019, was a day that changed the music industry forever. It was the day when "Old Town Road" made headlines as it skyrocketed up the Billboard Top 100 charts. It has since broken records that may take a long time to be broken again, if ever. Lil Nas X, a singer/songwriter out of Atlanta, Georgia, had virtually no publicity before releasing arguably his greatest piece and the piece that brought him fame. The second the song hit the streaming platforms, listeners spread it's country trap vibes across the country. It found itself in memes almost straight away as it continued to catch fire. The song only gained traction when it was controversially removed from the Country Charts because the chart moderators felt it wasn’t country enough. That’s when Lil Nas X decided to team up with country superstar Billy Ray Cyrus to blow the song up even more. The "Old Town Road" Remix is today the longest standing #1 song on the Billboard Top 100 at 17 weeks. In fact, it was finally dethroned by Billie Eilish’s "Bad Guy" at #1 after 19 weeks at the top. And most recently, Lil Nas X received a MTV award for Song of the Year and Best Video direction becoming the first LGBTQ+ artist to win those awards.

And for good reason. This song has to be one of my top favorites. I still find myself playing it in my car and listening to it with my volume at max. If you like country music, this mixed-genre song is for you. Even if you aren’t a huge country fan like myself, you can still enjoy the song for its bouncy high-hat 808 filled trap vibes. Its catchy lyrics about a good-old rootin'-tootin' cowboy living in this current society provide the perfect taste of what it's like to live that life. Lil Nas X is still on the rise as our society’s cattle wrangler as he keeps releasing new music, all with the new country trap vibes. He pioneered a new genre of music, and I hope that he stays and fresh. His defining hit "Old Town Road" brings out the cowboy in everyone. Yeehaw.

On July 17th, 2019, The Lion King came out and had everyone ready to go get some popcorn and see if it made it better. It was directed by Jon Favreau, who is an American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. You may also see him play in the Ironman series and Avengers movies. The Lion King is a Walt Disney Picture film remake of the original 1994 film. The movie made about $1.351 billion at the box office and was the highest-grossing animated film of all time. It has 87% rate like 7.1/10 IMDb, 52% Rotten tomatoes, and a ¾ Roger Ebert.

Personally, I have never watched the new Lion King but I did watch the old version. I heard that the new one is not as funny as the old and made it more realistic as like how animals act in real life instead of making facial expression into the characters as it was in the original.

In recent meme culture, loud sounds have become almost essential to any video. Advising caution to headphone users was used as early as 2005, but gained traction in 2016. Adding a loud unexpected sound to any video makes it 100 times funnier than what it was before, especially to this new generation whose humor has distorted and deteriorated.

Personally, I enjoy this category of meme. I always enjoy scrolling through my Instagram feed and finding a video that is a surprise to my ears. My personal favorite type of distortion is bass-boosted songs where you can’t even interpret what the lyrics are saying because the bass is too overwhelming and just so fantastic. A good example of that is the song "Walk" (Extreme Bass Boosted) by Comethazine. Songs like this can basically be used for any video with a surprising twist in it. Usually, something that the viewer may find out of the ordinary or as a millennial may call it, "wack".
