Granada Islamic School- School Counseling Mission Statement
The mission of the Granada Islamic School counseling department is to ensure equitable access to a rigorous education for all students, ensuring all students acquire competencies needed in academics and social/emotional development to reach their greatest potential.
Our program is a collaborative effort between the school counselor, parents and other educators to create an environment that promotes student achievement and overall health.
Individual and small group counseling (short-term interventions)
Crisis intervention counseling
Conflict resolution and peer facilitation
Consultation/collaboration with staff and parents to best support students
Referrals to outside services as needed (including mental and physical health)
Student Advocacy
Advocate for positive change in the school
Parent and teacher workshops to promote life-long learning, self-growth, and providing further tools for staff and parents to be able to better support students
