My name is Arug Khurshid, and I am the school counselor for Granada Islamic School. I feel extremely blessed to be able to work with the students, staff, and parents of Granada Islamic School.
Background:
I have earned my Bachelor's degree in Developmental Psychology with a minor in Biology from Canada. I then earned my Masters's degree in Social Work with a Concentration on Health/Mental Health.
I began my career as a medical social worker and a mental health counselor in local hospitals and mental health clinics. After working in the health field for a few years, I was blessed to be given the opportunity to switch my career to be able to work where I feel most passionate about, youth in the school setting!
I have been working as a school counselor since 2018 in many different schools around the Bay Area. I have worked with students of all ages spanning from pre-K all the way to high school. What I love the most about counseling is being able to work with students and seeing them put in the effort to grow and progress over time.
As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic and social/emotional development of all students. It is important to me that I work closely as a team with parents/guardians, teachers, administration, and staff to ensure students are receiving all the support they need to guide them through the school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
