Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading program that encourages the love of reading, expose students to different genres of writing, and enhance cooperative learning and teamwork among students.
Current 4th and 5th-grade students who commit to reading at least 6 of the Battle of the Books selections may form a team of 4 students. Though it is not required to read all 10 of the Battle of the Books selections, your knowledge of each book may give your team a competitive advantage!
The Battle of the Books Club will meet on Mondays from 3:15 - 4:00 in the Library on the following dates:
August 26th
September 23rd
October 7th
October 21st
November 4th
November 18th
December 2nd
December 16th
January 13th
January 27th
February 3rd - We will only meet if we need to make up a previous meeting
February 5th , Wednesday - Battle of the Books Quiz Bowl
There will be many copies available for Battle of the Books participants available through the school library and on the Sora app. Some students choose to purchase their own books so they can take notes in them though it is not a requirement.
Attendance:
Each meeting will focus on a different book so attendance is expected.

Prompt pickup at the end of the club is essential. If there is a chance you will be late, please contact the office.
Expectations:
Students will demonstrate GPS expectations.
Students will sign a contract at the first meeting.
Students will read at least 6 books.
Students will be active participants.
Students will be positive teammates.
Permission/Registration forms will be sent home with 4th and 5th-grade students during the first week of school. Forms are due back before the first meeting on August 26th.
