Senior Survivor is a week long charity event when 17 seniors are chosen to compete in order to fundraise for Grandville Student Assistance Funds. These seniors move into the high school and live within the halls of GHS for the week until they are "voted off" based on their fundraising totals. Participants will compete to raise as much money as possible to go towards district Student Assistance Funds.
During this week-long event, contestants will be challenged, alliances will be made, money will be raised, and fun will be had. At the end of the week we will crown a final survivor victorious based on who has raised the most money!
Junior Survivors also come into play during our Senior Survivor competition. 18 elementary, intermediate, and middle school students across the district will be nominated by their student body to team up with a Senior Survivor in the competition. Junior Survivors are positive and energetic individuals who embody Grandville pride, excellence, and GRIT!
Not only do Junior Survivors help their Senior Survivor partner in a special challenge during Senior Survivor week, they also help lead fundraising in their own school building to keep their Senior partner in the competition.
Seniors can raise money in a variety of ways. The most common fundraising method is through a GoFundMe page that each survivor will create. This page will be shared out on this website, and also can be shared out via various social media platforms. Other ways seniors can raise money include selling t-shirts, choosing to sell other items during the school day, and winning reward challenges.
While our 17 survivors are living in the building. they will not be allowed to leave the high school campus and will turn in all technology. After school hours they will participate in challenges similar to those of the TV Show Survivor. Survivor contestants will be eliminated from the game based on immunity challenges and money raised for the charity (Student Assistance Funds).
All money raised will go towards our district Student Assistance Funds. This year, we will also make a charitable donation to Hand2Hand.
The GHS Student Assistance fund was created for when a student or GHS family is in need. Student Assistance funds are used to buy winter coats and gloves, restock items in the food pantry, help pay for needed items in a home, purchase school supplies or backpacks, or provide opportunities to fund unique educational experiences for students throughout the year.
Funds raised during Senior Survivor do not only stay with the high school, but are also spread throughout the district. Each building will use their Student Assistance funds in similar ways to support their students and create unique educational opportunities for them.
This is a cause that can greatly benefit those right here in the Grandville community and make a positive impact for a child or family in need.
