Part 1:Personality

1. Login in to Naviance. 

2. Click on "Self-Discovery" on the top bar on your home screen.

3. Select "Personality" from your list of choices.

4. Click "Start Assessment" when you're ready to go! This assessment will take 15 minutes to take. 

Part 2: Intelligences

1. Login in to Naviance. 

2. Click on "Self-Discovery" at the top bar on your home screen.

3. Select "Intelligences" from your list of choices.

4. Click "Start Assessment" when you're ready to go!  This assessment will take 15  minutes to complete.

Part 3: Learning and Productivity

1. Login in to Naviance. 

2. Click on "Self-Discovery" at the top bar on your home screen.

3. Select "Learning and Productivity" from your list of choices.

4. Click "Start Assessment" when you're ready to go!  This assessment will take at least 2o minutes to complete.

How will this help you pick a career?  Your unique personality may be a great fit in some careers and not a great fit in others.  Learning more about YOU will help narrow down a career path that will compliment your personality.

Part 1: Involvement 

There are a lot of ways to get involved at Grandville High School! For this activity, spend some time exploring our Co-Curricular Guide and finding a club, sport or group that may interest you.  From there, make a SMART goal about how you will get involved at GHS!

1. Explore the GHS Co-Curricular Guide.  FInd at least one activity that could be of interest to you.

2. Login in to Naviance. At the top of your Naviance home screen, select "Planner." 

3. Click on "Goals' from your list of options.  Add an "Extracurricular Goal" to your page by following the prompts. 

Part 2: Volunteering

Grandville requires 2o hours of community service prior to graduating high school.  This can seem like a big task, but if you learn about volunteer opportunities and plan to volunteer at least a few hours every semester, you will complete this requirement with ease.

Linked here is the GHS Community Service Form.  Explore the form for ideas on where you can volunteer.  You can also explore "Volunteer Match" for opportunities near you! Make a plan for 5-7 hours, per semester, for your community service by:

1. Login in to Naviance.

2. Click on "Planner" at the top of your home screen.

3. Select "Goals" from the list of options. 

4. Under "Other Goals" add your plan for community service.  

Part 1: Career Cluster Finder:

1. Login in to Naviance.

2. Click on "Self-Discovery" on the top bar on your home screen.

3. Select "Career Cluster Finder" from your list of choices.

4. Click "Start Assessment" when you're ready to go. 

5. Read through your top 4 Cluster Matches and select at least ONE as a favorite (click on the heart shape underneath the cluster description).

6. Read through the description of your Activities, Qualities and Subjects.  Does it sound like you?

Part 2: Career Interest Profiler:

1. Login in to Naviance.

2. Click on "Self-Discovery" on the top bar of your home screen.

3. Select "Career Interest Profiler" from your list of choices.

4. Click "Start Assessment" when you are ready. This assessment should take 15 minutes to complete.

5. Your results will show you your top "Holland Traits."  Within these traits, you can explore specific careers that match you!

6. Find at least THREE careers to favorite (click on the heart underneath the description). You can favorite as many as you would prefer, however.

How will this assessment help you pick a career? Career Cluster Finder will helps you identify your interests and discover career clusters that contain careers that might interest you. It will also help you to select high school classes that fit your potential future plans. The Career Interest Profiler results capture your interests to help identify your personality traits and suggests careers based on the U.S. Department of Labor’s data. 

Congrats!  You have almost completed your first year of High School.  Hopefully, you have also started to find careers that may be of interest to you.  As you continue with school, you will do more investigating and planning.  

Please review to the two goals you created this year: Extracurricular and Community Service.  Are you on track to achieve these goals?

It's time to start learning more about the Kent Career Technical Center (KCTC).  Next year you will have a chance to visit KCTC and to request enrollment to attend.  The programs at KCTC are varied and can help you to earn both high school and college credit and requirements.  KCTC can lead to college and/or a great job in the future.  This activity will help you to continue developing your Educational Development Plan (EDP). 

1. Go to the KCTC Website:  www.thetechcenter.org.  

2. Watch the Introduction Video HERE on the website.  Earbuds please! 

3. Then, click on the blue tab at the upper right that says Programs.

4. Hover your cursor over Programs and you will see all of the course offerings at KCTC.  Take some time to look over the programs.  Make a mental note of the programs that you are interested in.  

5. Be sure to watch some of the videos associated with the programs! 

THEN…

1. Login to Naviance.

2. Go to the About Me tab in the upper right corner.  Using the drop down menu choose "Surveys From Your School”

3. Filter by “Surveys not Started”

4. Find the "KCTC Survey: Grade 10" and complete it to your best ability.

KCTC may be a great fit for some of you and may not be for others.  Just keep an open mind about your EDP and your future.  You will have a chance to request KCTC enrollment at scheduling.  There will also be opportunities to visit.
