TRAILS to Wellness and Small Groups at GHS
Grandville High School is now offering the University of Michigan’s, TRAILS to Wellness program to support our students’ social, emotional, and behavioral health. Mrs. Sterckx (SEL Coach) will be running a skills group for students experiencing symptoms of anxiety and/or depression in early September. Students will learn effective strategies to manage common symptoms of depression and anxiety, such as feelings of hopelessness, decreased energy, worried thoughts and avoidant behaviors. The goal of our group work will be to improve emotional health for optimal academic and social/emotional achievement.
This ten week program is free, and students will meet once per week (for 45 minutes to an hour) during the school day. Click here for more information about the TRAILS program. If you are interested in your child(ren) participating, please complete this interest form. Space is limited, and groups will be determined based on need and availability.
General SEL Wellness Skills Group
Mrs. Sterckx will also be offering a general SEL Wellness skills group. The group focuses on building students’ self advocacy, problem solving, and stress management skills. If your student struggles to advocate for their needs, navigate tricky social situations, set and maintain goals, and/or establish healthy and positive friendships, this skills group might be a good fit for them.
This is an eight week group, and students meet once per week (45 minutes) during the school day. If you are interested in your child(ren) participating, please complete this interest form. Space is limited, and groups will be determined based on need and availability.
Ele's Place Grief & Loss Support Group
Losing a loved one or close friend can be incredibly difficult for students, and the grieving process often impacts both emotional well-being and academics. To support students who are experiencing loss, Mrs. Sterckx will be offering a Grief & Loss Support Group at GHS.
In this group, students will learn about the grieving process and how it can look different for everyone. Students will explore healthy ways to cope with emotions such as sadness, anger, or guilt. They will be able to connect with peers who have had similar experiences, and to build resiliency and strategies for moving forward while honoring the memory of their loved one
Like the other groups offered, this 8 week group will meet during the school day. If you believe this group would benefit your child, please complete this interest form. Space is limited, and groups will be determined based on need and availability.
