Career Research- pharmacist

One job that is essential for the survival of humans and animals is a pharmacist. Pharmacists give prescription drugs to people in hospitals and pharmacies. They also provide advice to patients and other health professionals on how to use or take medication, the correct dose of a drug, and potential side effects.

The minimal education for a pharmacist is a professional degree. Once you complete the required training and education pharmacists are required to complete 30 hours of pharmacy continuing education courses every two years. The average hours per week working as a pharmacist is 40 hours. If I pursue this career I will earn $58.41 per hour and I will also receive 2 weeks of vacation. Some of the extra skills that could be helpful for this job are Management skills, Finance skills, and inventory control. The extra benefits of being a pharmacist are family care and health savings accounts. The benefit of family care savings accounts provides cash to replace lost income due to working fewer hours and earning less income to care for a family member.

Some positives of this career include Helping people, a clean environment, and an excellent salary. Although there are positives to this career there are also negative sides to this career. Some of the negative sides include that the educational requirements are extensive, work can be stressful and you may need to work off-hours, weekends, and holidays. The working conditions that I will face are inside with many people mainly interacting and standing up. With this in mind, A typical day as a pharmacist involves checking and dispensing medication, making medication, talking with physicians, providing patients with pharmaceutical information, providing patients with health advice, explaining the proper use of medication, supervising staff and pharmacy technicians

Although we are still using people for this profession there will be no need for this job in the future because we will be able to code a robot into doing these kinds of tasks.
